Harvest time is the highlight of the year in Bala. Starting two to three weekends before Canadian Thanksgiving and continuing until the end of October, the fields come alive as thousands of pounds of cranberries are gathered from 27 acres of marshes. In total, the annual harvest produces an incredible 300,000–400,000 pounds of fruit.
Cranberries are unlike any other crop in the world — native only to North America and grown in a unique way that makes visiting during harvest season a truly special experience.
And don’t miss the Bala Cranberry Festival, held the weekend after Thanksgiving, celebrating the harvest with entertainment, vendors, and community events.
